Yes Man features a hoodie and board short combo, made out of molded cellulose sponge fused and concealed inbetween the lining. The irony here, that a hoodie and board shorts are associated with comfort, yet here, they are stiff and uncomfortable. They are effectively “board shorts,” that can’t get wet. This look is a representation of external conformity. In the face of an overwhelming systemic power structure, how often do we choose to conform to it? How often do we absorb and mold ourselves according to our surroundings, knowingly, and how often unknowingly? The cellulose sponge, can be infinitely remolded, when soaked in water, and will mold to its wearer or its wearer’s surroundings.
